bathboy

Just a split-second in the bath, in between bouts of his being fairly unhappy about the shampoo.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: this boy makes me crazy with love for him. The must bite a chunk out of him while making growly animal sounds kind of love. It’s amazing how qualitatively different the love is that he inspires, compared to that of his sister.

Quantity for both? Infinite, of course.  Or if there’s an ending point to it, I certainly can’t make it out. But the love for one wafts in, like Carl Sandburg’s San Francisco fog, “on little cat feet,” with fairy wings, diaphanous, breathtaking.  This one? A freight train. Carrying lions. So much for worrying about there being enough love to spread around to a second child.  As everyone says, your heart expands, effortlessly, to meet the new production demands.  And because each child is miraculously unique, so will your love for them be.

Those eyes! Gorgeous boy – lucky you, lucky him.

Scrumptious! Miguel asks, “Who do you love more, me or Zeca?” I tell him that I love them the same amount but in different ways. His response? “Oh c’mon mom!” Ah…the first born. My point is that I feel the same as you do…I love them both more than words could ever explain and I love them differently.

I don’t know if you’ve seen this yet, but I thought that you might enjoy it (Or as much as it is possible to considering why it was created): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntC0PNHFRgU

Thanks, karunarhay! I’d actually seen it, and the other one done by the same folks, The Defenders. They’re great. One wonders where this talent was before the Prop8 election. Were we deer in the headlights of a campaign strategy dictated unwisely by top-down style organizations? Disbelieving of the extent, nature, and location of homophobia in the state, and of the impact of the anti-gay organizing done by the Yes side? All of the above?

One of the saddest things to me (and many others) is, I think a lot of us were out organizing for Obama. One of several reasons why, even though I do not relish another high-speed car-chase type election battle (i.e., rushing to ballog in 2010), we might not want the next CA marriage equality battle to compete with an Obama re-election campaign for attention and resources. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice — you get the picture.

Beautiful post; do you all have the children’s (picture) book “I love you the purplest” (Barbara M Joosse)? One of my favorites!

Thank you, angelina. And alas, no: we have the classic, Harold and the Purple Crayon. But that’s as purple as we get. I will scour the bookstore &/or harass the bookstore clerk, our next visit!
