I thought of you when I read this on Andrew Sullivan's blog today:

. . ."And these married couples and their families and children will now become the focus of the debate in California, as they should be. They are the evidence that we are right: that extending the blessings and responsibilities of full family life to gay men and lesbians is a good and conservative and integrating thing. We need now to put these families forward as our core argument. Their lives are our best case. Like mixed-race married couples in another era, they will show that there is nothing to fear here and much to celebrate."

I held you and your sweet children in my heart today, and I am wishing you all the best as you gather strength to keep changing minds and hearts one amazing kid and devoted partnership at a time.

As always, thanks for all you do.

Yep.

I'm now at a friend's office in downtown SF, uploading my photographs, digesting my burrito, and summoning up the energy for the next steps. Of which there will be a great many.

Time for Lao tzu: "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." Leastwise we're not starting at mile marker zero.

Powerful words indeed!

Tonight is also the night the Alameda school board votes on the Safe Schools curriculum. I'm not sure which steps I'll be on--either those in SF celebrating or protesting, or those in Alameda celebrating or protesting.

Big day indeed.

Thanks for your coverage of the Alameda stuff, and it was good to see you and get a quick hug in.
