Quite poignant, my friend. This summer, I have really began to realize that our oldest, our son, is getting growing up. Of course he is...so why have I been caught by surprise? As he struggles to become more of his own person, a person separate from his parents, I have been startled by my feelings of loss. My first baby is no longer a baby and, sometimes, I can't help but want him to need/want me in those early ways. It is true that the only thing constant about parenting and children is change.
